Secret Millionaire...

My family run a business and like many other Indians around the country, it is a corner shop. However it is a corner shop in the one the most...how do I put it nicely, ok one of the most Jeremy Kyle villages in the UK, where we get a whole variety of interesting customers - some who have actually been on the show.

We get so many stories from these characters, that the drama in my small but eventful village really does rival Eastenders, however their was one customer, who picks up the parcels from our shop daily, whose story was really inspiring. He is in his fifties and when I asked about his current job, he said he only does it for something to do as he is a workaholic but he doesn't need the money and could easily retire. He went on tell me how he spent fifteen years in the motor trade buying and selling cars but by the age of 34 he realised he wasn't making enough money for a decent lifestyle and that he wanted to make a change to a career where he could support his wife and two daughters and give them a lot more then he had been doing.

So he decided to get into wealth management, he took two years to do all the exams and qualify while still working and then got a job in London in a small firm, where he put in the hard graft to build himself up. Then finally all his hard work paid off and he landed a job in Canary Wharf dealing with some mega clients including some top footballers. He went on to work in this position for ten years, which  he states was the most stressful and hardest time of his life. However he is glad he made that choice when he was 34, as now he is semi retired, his daughters have trust funds, his wife goes on four holidays a year and he has holiday homes in Italy, France and Spain.

It just goes to show that how hard work, determination, setting your mind to something and taking a risk does pay off. For me I am really glad I met him as he has helped me in my search, his story has showed me that I can make something of myself, as their is a lifetime of choices for me out there, I just have to do my research and pick the right path for me and then go for it full steam ahead...you don't have to make it in your twenties, everyone get their time to shine, their golden period as I call it.

When I asked this man if he was a millionaire, the words 'yes I am' didn't come out of my mouth but his smile and the cheeky wink told me that he was and as he walked out the shop door I realised I had just met a secret millionaire...

What Happens In Vegas Stays In Vegas...

So I got the adventure I was craving, I am the best man for my cousins wedding and my one duty was to plan an epic stag and I did just that...

Las Vegas, 14 People, 4 Nights, 4 MGM Grand Hotel Suites and 4 Wild Nights plus a out of this world Pool Party. The strip was amazing, every hotel had their own little quirk and they were like resorts in themselves, the people were up for a laugh, the clubs make me never want to go out in the UK again as they were that good. It really is Sin City - a place to just go wild and have the time of your life but everyone knows the saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

What I will tell you is that boys need to have the money in Vegas as we buy the tables while lucky old girls get in most places free. I will definitely go again but it is an older crowd, so will return in a few years when I am bit older and have more money to gamble.

But before Vegas we made a pit stop In the city that never sleeps...2 nights in New York. My neck hurt so much from this trip as you can't help but look up the whole time as the skyscrapers are so tall. The views from the roof top bars are amazing, it really is place everyone has to go see it is very similar to London but everything is ten times better.  It is a food city so we just kept eating, from pretzels to waffles and ice cream to some of the best Italian and burgers I have ever tasted. We also done a tour, the guide took us to see Wall Street, Ground Zero, Washington Sqaure (the fountains from the Friends series opening sequence) where we played chess and we visited Central Park.

So we packed in quite a lot and for the evening we ditched the tourist places and wanted to experience proper NYC nightlife, so we hit the lower east side and ended up in  a bar called Pianos where the atmosphere was just brilliant, at one point there was a big group of us just downing patron shots. I even had a time to hand in my cv and some writing samples to The New York Time offices as it was just something I had to do while I was there, you never know what can happen.

These trips were really interesting experiences because everyone was so easy to talk to and just up for a laugh. I don't think I could live in America but would definitely cherish the opportunity to work their for a year. It was just what I needed a trip to boost me in my search and memories to motivate me to sort my life out so I can visit epic places like this again.

In My Prime...

I have just turned 24 and am supposed to be in the prime of my life with the early twenties being seen as the fun years, where you work hard and play hard, the problem is I'm not.

Life is like a menu as their are so many choices...

One being career, some people are lucky enough to know what they want to do at a young age and then go on to uni or enter working life to work towards getting that job. For me it's a different story as I have been so confused about what to do and how to get their, ultimately writing is my passion but the media industry in general is hard to break so I have been slowly building a portfolio on the side but in the meantime I have thought about being:

  1. Lawyer - would have to go back to uni and it is a very competitive market to get a training contract
  2. Optician/Dentist - Brilliant money with these careers but requires a long stay at uni and one to be good at exams and sciences which is not me
  3. Sales - this is the field I landed in and I am pretty good at it if i do say so myself however it doesn't mean I enjoy it
So by the time I turn 25, I want to have a set career in mind and be on a path to getting their but I also want to find my perfect girl a long the way...

I have never had a serious relationship or been in love and I want to experience that now. I know the sayings, it happens when you not looking for it or what's meant to happen will, however its my time now and you have to put yourself out there which is what I have done...I am on the infamous Tinder and plenty of fish but nothing to report yet.

What is my type? I have an idea: They need to have banter, be a bit feisty but with a soft side, funny and of course absolutely stunning haha but I am restricted by religion and caste due to family values, so finding a girl is even more challenging if you add that side in.

On a menu you can look at something and think shall I go for something new or stick with what I know...I looking for that something new, a adventure, something exciting and different so I am going to blog about my search for these three elements of my life...
